Tategu
(removable screens, doors, shutters)
wood mosaic work
These are the most finely crafted furnishings in the building. The tategu on the right was restored during the 2019 restoration and repair.
Toko no ma and tokowaki
(alcove room and alcove room shelves)
The restored toko no ma room recreates the alcove height and other features based on traces that had remained on both walls. When finishing the restoration in 2019, a tokobashira (alcove pillar) thought to have been used in the original building was excavated on the site.
Saobuchi tenjo
(board and batten ceiling)
A ceiling supported by thin, long boards called battens. The batten is chamfered and otherwise crafted, making this the most formal room after the coffered ceiling.
Floor materials
Tatami flooring was replaced with wood flooring during the 2019 restoration and renovation so that the room can be used for exhibits.
Old and new materials
Materials replaced during the 2019 restoration and repair did not include treating aged paint and the like. As a result, it is possible to distinguish new and old materials.
Reinforcing elements
A structural reinforcing lattice wall installed during the 2019 restoration and repair.
